Hickam Airmen go 'Above and Beyond' in Oahu community Published Jan. 12, 2010 13th Air Force Public Affairs HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Capt. Michael Powell, 613th Air and Space Operations Center systems flight commander, and Master Sgt. Lisa Thomas, U.S. Pacific Command Enlisted Assignments division, at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, were recently awarded the Lex Brodie's Above and Beyond Award for their outstanding service to the Oahu community. Through their work at the Safe Haven Homeless Shelter, they have provided support to Hawaii's homeless and severely disabled. Both are the first Airmen to win the award since its inception. Sergeant Thomas is also an active member of the Hickam Air Force Base Top 3 Association, while Captain Powell serves the community through his work at the Hickam Chapel.
