U.S. Security Forces Airmen practice base defense during Keen Sword 11

As part of a guard and protect exercise, U.S. Security Forces Airmen, and members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and the Japan Air Self Defense Force, practiced defending Misawa Air Base, Japan, against potential threats concurrently during exercise Keen Sword 11 on Dec. 4 here.

Keen Sword 2011 is a large and complex exercise that involves all components of U.S. Joint Forces and Japanese Self-Defense Forces training to conduct bilateral operations in support of the defense of Japan in a number of locations throughout the country. The purpose and value of the training is to facilitate the interaction and improve the interoperability of both militaries.
