1-1 ADA battalion contributes to Keen Sword

Soldiers from the 1-1 Air Defense Artillery Batallion at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, are participating in exercise Keen Sword as part of the air defense picture of the exercise.

Units from the United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps are conducting training with their Japan Self-Defense Force counterparts at military installations throughout mainland Japan, Okinawa and in the waters surrounding Japan during Keen Sword 2011, which is currently underway.

During the exercise, the 1-1 Air Defense Artillery Battalion is conducting training to test the capabilities of missile defense, and how it interacts with the joint effort of base security and force protection, search and rescue, close air support, live-fire training, and maritime defense and interdiction.
