The 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron was recently  awarded the 2010 PACAF Daedalian Major General Warren R. Carter Logistics Effectiveness Award. This award is bestowed on the best logistics readiness squadron for its impact on mission accomplishment and overall logistics excellence during the past year.

Achieving the Daedialion Award symbolizes the commitment each of the four flights within the 18 LRS and impacts Team Kadena's overall mission success. The 18 LRS will now represent Team Kadena and PACAF as it competes at the Air Force-level.

Along with this major achievement, 18 LRS had seven individual award winners earn "Best in PACAF" for their functional areas. This was the most individual awards garnered by any PACAF logistics readiness squadron:

· Maj. John Nolan, 18 LRS operations officer, earned the Colonel Cynthia L. Benulis Logistics Readiness Field Grade Officer of the Year

· Senior Master Sgt. James Nollie, 18 LRS material management flight chief, won the Chief Master Sgt. Eddie Speight Award and was selected as the PACAF material management Senior Non-Comissioned Officer of the Year

Amongst the winners was Sergeant Nollie, who felt the 19 LRS as whole helped contribute to the presitgious honor he was individually recognized for.

"I don't feel like I won an award, it is a reflection of the entire squadron and the leadership's philosophy of excellence," Sergeant Nollie said. "This environment has the best mentors in the Air Force who are readily available in this squadron. In an environment like that, it is easy to excel and the set standard of excellence is what you strive for day in and day out.''
