Medical technicians from Kunsan Air Base's 8th Medical Group received simulator orientation and briefings from members of the base's 8th Security Forces Squadron as part of the National Nurses Week commemoration here May 13.

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from National Nurses Day (May 6) through the birthday of Florence Nightingale (May 12).  Florence Nightingale was the founder of modern nursing. In January 1974, the International Council of Nurses proclaimed May 12 as International Nurses Day.

Florence Nightingale was born in 1820; she laid the foundation of professional nursing with her establishment of the first secular nursing school in the world in 1860 at St. Thomas' Hospital in London, England.
