Kunsan engineers entertain special guest

Maj. Gen. Timothy Byers visited the Wolf Pack at Kunsan Air Base, Korea, July 10 - 11 to see how things are operating and to have breakfast with Airmen.

Major General Byers is the lead civil engineer at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, in Washington, D.C. He is responsible for installation support functions at 166 Air Force bases worldwide with an annual budget of more than $12 billion. He is also responsible for organizing, training and equipping the 60,000-person engineering force, and for planning, development, construction, maintenance, utilities and the environmental quality of Air Force bases worldwide valued at more than $251 billion.

This responsibility also includes services for housing, fire protection, aircraft crash and rescue, explosive ordnance disposal and disaster preparedness. Additionally, he oversees the Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., and the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment at Brooks City-Base, Texas.
