Kadena Air Base Airmen are being challenged in their daily tasks and ability to respond to various real-world and contingency scenarios during local operational readiness exercise Beverly High 12-1 Oct. 24-28.

During the LORE, Airmen showcase their ability to perform everyday work activities, in addition to responding to situations such as major accidents, ground and air attacks, injured personnel, chemical environments and others .

It is also an important time to show that the 18th Wing's missions, visions, tasking and goals are known by the exercise players. As exercise evaluation team members, Kadena EETs evaluate the exercise by inspecting, teaching, leading, and guiding Airmen to know their mission, have it accomplished and be successful.

The goal for the players and the EET members is the same - to be prepared for the real world and crises of any situation.

In addition to that goal, The mission of the 18th Wing Plans, or XP, office, which leads the EET, is to ensure the wing is prepared to respond safely and effectively to those crisis situations, operational taskings, and wartime missions, by providing meaningful feedback through these periodic exercises, said Master Sgt. Andrea Barnes, 18th Wing Plans superintendent of exercises.

"Our vision for XP exercises is to train the 18th Wing by executing realistic and challenging exercise scenarios and to provide thorough inspections in support of the wing mission and operational plans," Barnes said.

The evaluators make sure the players are prepared for the real world by having the scenarios be as real, but as safe, as possible.

"Safety and immediate reaction are the two things we always look for," said Barnes. "Being trained and qualified [and having a] positive attitude for people involved is a success."

No matter the situation, Kadena EET members help Airmen stay safe, secure and prepared.
