A non-commissioned officer here was the fourth U.S. Air Force Airman to graduate from the Joint Advanced Leadership Course Feb. 24, at Pasir Laba Camp, Republic of Singapore.

Master Sgt. Kelly Randolph, an aero medical evacuations strategic resources manager from Pacific Air Forces, attended the three-week course with Singapore Armed Forces, New Zealand Army, and U.S. Navy. The course encompassed subject matter similar to U. S. Air Force Professional Military Education.

"They had a lot of good information like the Senior NCO Academy to include leadership, team building, Profession of Arms and communication," Randolph said. "They really pushed a lot of cohesion and team building."

One way they promoted team work was through an obstacle course according to Randolph.

"We had to follow the directions to get to a specific location," Randolph said. "Along the way there were obstacles we had to overcome before we could move on to the next task. Everyone had a part to play and generally played to their strengths and we finished all of the obstacles and challenges together."

Prior to each class, a call for potential students is sent out to all Pacific Air Forces command chiefs. Airmen are nominated by their command chief and are ultimately selected to attend by the PACAF command chief.

"It was a huge networking opportunity," Randolph said. "It took the learning outside of the classroom and we learned how individuals played different roles in the team and put it to practical use during the exercise."

According to Randolph, her experience in Singapore made her look deeper into her role as a leader.

"I hope this international exchange program continues and more USAF members strive for this," Randolph said. "This has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my military career."
