Osan Airmen maintain heavy weapons arsenal

Katrina Aide, 51st Security Forces Squadron combat arms instructor, inspects a M2 Browning Machine Gun here, April 4, 2012. The M2 Browning Machine Gun is a heavy machine gun designed by John Browning toward the end of World War I and introduced to service in 1921. According to Staff Sgt. Katrina Aide, the weapon uses a closed bolt, air cooled, disintegrating belt-fed design. The weapon has been used in many roles by the United States armed forces to include vehicle and aircraft mounted platforms. With its maximum range of 6,800 meters, it has been one of the longest lasting small arms weapon.
