Turumi Lodge best in PACAF

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea --  For the fourth year in a row, Osan Air Base's Turumi Lodge won the Innkeeper Award for best lodging facility in Pacific Air Forces.

This year's theme for the Innkeeper Award nomination is "High Five," said Cindy Varnes-Woolley, Turumi Lodge general manager.

"I believe we are the best," she said. "And every time a customer believes we are the best, we want them to give us a high five."

The "High Five" also stands for the five areas of service that Turumi stands by -- respect, teamwork, cleanliness, professionalism and customer service.

According to Varnes-Woolley, one of the best traits about Turumi Lodge is its cleanliness, since Turumi is more than 11 years old.

As the Air Force level inspection approaches, Turumi team members will prepare the lodge for an intense look at cleanliness, customer service, administration, supply and customer satisfaction.

"We have worked hard to create a professional and pleasurable place for our customers to stay while at Osan," said Michael Wolfe, 51st Force Support Squadron Sustainment Services Flight deputy. "We look forward to the Air Force award announcement later this summer."

The Turumi Lodge offers its customers a wide variety of unique features during their stay including: wireless internet in all the rooms, 24-hour ATM and minimart, conference room, computer room with common access card reader, and free shuttle service to contracted hotels.

Turumi Lodge has a total of 363 guest rooms including 16 suites, and is open to all service members, dependants, Department of Defense civilians and any sponsor family members or guest of a DOD card holder.

On average, Turumi Lodge houses nearly 200,000 customers annually.

Turumi Lodge's dedication to professionalism is the reason a win is predicted for Air Force level, Varnes-Woolley said.

"Although we have not won at the Air Force level in the last four years," she said. "We have a great team this go-around and we expect a positive outcome."

As a PACAF winner, Turumi will now compete for the Air Force level InnKeeper Award that is presented annually to recognize the lodging operation that provides the most outstanding hotel-type lodging and customer service to Air Force travelers.
