18th CMS helps Kadena use its 'inside voice'

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Anyone who's ever been near a fighter jet with the engines running can attest to the ground-shaking, ear-shattering scream that emanates from the powerful machine.

However, by using the engine test facility on Kadena rather than testing the machines on the flightline, the 18th Component Maintenance Squadron keeps down the noise impact on the local community.
