The U.S. Forces, Japan, and 5th Air Force commander recently visited the 18th Wing to meet with Kadena service members.

Lt. Gen. Sam Angelella held a commander's call at the Keystone Theater to coin Pacific Air Forces annual award winners and speak with Team Kadena personnel.

A key topic the general discussed was the curfew and current restrictions to military personnel throughout Japan and Okinawa.

"Please watch out for your wingmen, and take care of them," the general said. "Okinawan people are wonderful and great hosts, but we also have to be good guests."

Angelella said Team Kadena should continue to reach out to its senior leaders, and encouraged senior advisors to reach out to local governors and inform them of the great things Team Kadena is doing.

"I have to (relieve the restrictions) in steps, and I ask you to be patient," he added.

He also spoke about the Air Force's core values: Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence In All We Do.

"If Airmen remember (the core values) during their day-to-day operations, the Air Force will be OK," Angelella said.

Along with the commander's call, Angelella also spoke to junior enlisted Airmen during a distinguished visitor breakfast, watched a joint-service exercise at Torii Station and visited with local leaders around the island to discuss Kadena's mission and its accomplishments.
