The Acting Secretary of the Air Force Eric K. Fanning toured Kunsan Nov. 26, 2013 to become better acquainted with the Wolf Pack's mission, as well as to thank all the Airmen currently serving here.

The secretary was welcomed by Wolf Pack leadership and escorted on a full day's worth of Wolf Pack-centric activities to include receiving a mission demonstration from 8th Security Forces Squadron, visiting a dormitory and the dining facility, as well as holding an Airmen's Call in the base theater.

During the Airmen's Call, Fanning spoke on budget issues affecting the Air Force, as well as how impressed he is by Airmen.

"Seven months into this job and I am amazed by how much I am still learning about the Air Force," said Fanning. "The Air Force is everywhere; a lot of places that can't be seen - and that's a big part of our job. It's our job to explain what exactly air power is [to the public]."

Fanning said he's amazed and has really enjoyed getting to know more about the Air Force.

"In particular, I enjoy getting to know Airmen," continued the secretary. "They are really impressive and a lot smarter than I am. We find really great people, provide them with great training and place a great deal of responsibility on them early in their career. We have tremendous Airmen in uniform."

The secretary went on to thank the Airmen for their service, especially for being here in Kunsan without their families during the holidays.

"I know all of you are deployed here without your families, and so I wanted to come to this base specifically to thank you and say Happy Thanksgiving in person," said Fanning.

Fanning concluded his day with a dinner with 8th Fighter Wing Airmen, followed by a performance from the Kunsan's Sexual Assault Theater Group.
