General North is the 17th PACAF member to receive the prestigious Order of the Sword. The ceremony is conducted by noncommissioned officers to honor leaders who have made significant contributions to the enlisted corps. Joint military members from the island of Oahu transfer the remains of a U.S. service member, recovered by the Joint Pacific Accounting Command, during an arrival ceremony on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii June 17. Three flag draped caskets carried military members from World War II and the Vietnam War. The remains were recovered in Laos, Vietnam and Papua New Guinea. Following the ceremony with full military honors, the remains will be sent to JPAC's Central Identification Laboratory where forensic identification analysis will be conducted so the remains may be identified and returned to the members family.
