9/10/2012 - OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- The Osan Officers' Spouses Club took a step toward creating a tasty treat for Team Osan to enjoy - a cookbook called We Eat Together! (Gachi Meogeupsida).

With more than 250 favorite recipes from spouses across the base, Osan has something to call their own when enjoying meals together.

"We wanted to do something for Osan that was from Osan," said Laine Lercher, Ways and Means chair for the OOSC. "We asked people to send in their best recipes, pictures and a little blurb about the recipe so we could get something published for the base."

The recipes range from main and side dishes to international meals, candies, desserts and breads. Each will have not only the name of the recipe but also the name of the person who submitted it.

"We asked people to submit recipes and to tell a story with it," Lercher said. "Whether it was a hit at an event, passed down from generation to generation, or wherever it came from--we wanted to bring a little bit of personalization to the table."

"This is great because it is not just for the membership population," said Kandee Hein, publicity and webmaster for the OOSC. "I think the fact that this is from Osan makes the cookbook special. It's not just for membership. This is a collection of works from all over, and it should be distributed and enjoyed."

Funds raised from the sale will go back into the community in the form of scholarships and to support OOSC activities.

"I think I would love to see how this works out for the community," said Hein. "Not only the book itself, but the funds we raise are for the community, and it's great to give back. We want to give to Osan a bit and sell a lot of books. "

The book will be available Nov. 15, 2012, in time for the holiday season. Osan members can reserve a cookbook through the OOSC website, said Hein. At present there are only 200 copies available.
