COMPACAF appoints AIB president for Osan F-16 crash

4/24/2012 - JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii  -- An accident investigation board convened Apr. 5 to investigate the crash of an F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft assigned to the 36th Fighter Squadron, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea.

The pilot safely ejected from the F-16 before it crashed into a rice field near Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Mar. 21. No injuries were reported.

The AIB president is Lt. Col. William R. Jones, 8th Operations Group deputy commander, Kunsan Air Base.

Jones is a command pilot with more than 1,900 flight hours, to include the T-38 Talon trainer aircraft and the F-16.
