6/13/2011 - JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii -- The United States and four Asia-Pacific nations are finalizing plans to conduct humanitarian civic assistance programs during Operation PACIFIC ANGEL 2011.

Approximately 65 U.S. military members, along with local non-governmental organizations and host nation military forces will kick off the 2011 season in Indonesia, June 12-17. Three more missions are scheduled throughout the summer, including Mongolia in July, Cambodia in August, and Timor Leste in September.

Each Operation PACIFIC ANGEL 2011 mission will include medical, dental, optometry, veterinary and engineering programs as well as subject-matter expert exchanges in infection control and basic life support procedures.

Officially in its fourth year, Operation PACIFIC ANGEL is a joint and combined humanitarian assistance operation led by 13th Air Force at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The operation supports U.S. Pacific Command's capacity-building efforts by partnering with other governments in the region to provide medical, dental, optometry, veterinary and engineering assistance to their citizens.

Since 2007 U.S. military members, together with host nation military personnel throughout the region, have improved the lives of tens of thousands of people through Operation PACIFIC ANGEL operations.
