4/16/2009 - Sen. Daniel Inouye, along with Pacific Air Forces and Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, senior leadership, participate April 14 in the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting of C-17 Fuel Cell Hanger 19. The $25 million facility is the only hangar in the state of Hawaii specifically designed for C-17 fuel tank maintenance. It will greatly enhance the base's capacity to maintain and repair assigned as well as transient aircraft ensuring aircraft availability throughout the Pacific theater. It also provides an enclosed area for fuel cell maintenance which can support multiple airframes not limited to the C-17, KC-135, C-40, C-37, C-130 and KC-10. (U.S. Air Force photo/Vanessa M.
