JPAC team returns from Austria

A priest from nearby Vostenhof, Austria, presides over an Aug. 27 memorial service for the members of a B-17 bomber that crashed in the area May 10, 1944. The service was attended by family, friends and members of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command. An 18-member JPAC team, including a forensic anthropologist, explosive ordnance disposal technician and field medic, from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, returned Oct. 1 after 45 days in Austria attempting to recover the remains of 1st Lt. Stanley Dwyer and gunner Sgt. John Boros who were lost in the crash. The mission of JPAC is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of all Americans missing as a result of the nation's past conflicts. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Derrick C. Goode)
