Secretary of the Air Force Attends PACAF Air Force Birthday Ball

WAIKIKI, Hawaii -- Pacific Air Forces Commander, Gen. Paul V. Hester hosted the sold out 59th Air Force Birthday Ball at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. With a theme of "Heritage to Horizons," the ball celebrated the achievements of Airmen throughout our history.

Making this night special for those in attendance, the keynote speaker, Secretary of the Air Force, Michael W. Wynne commented at the start of the festivities, "This is one of the largest gatherings I have seen celebrating the birthday of our Air Force. I just want to congratulate all the Airmen, all of our leadership, and all the civilians here tonight to basically assist me and General Hester in celebrating the Air Force's 59th birthday".

During his address the Secretary Wynne reminded everyone of the expanse of the Pacific region and we have only to look at the freedoms the Pacific Air Forces secure so the entire region can enjoy peace and prosperity, interchange and commerce across an almost boundless ocean.

Major Brad Bistodeau, with PACAF A8P, said, "I've never had an event where Secretary Wynne or a Secretary of the Air Force was at." Major Bistodeau also said, "It's kind of interesting for me to come out and hear what the Secretary has to say."

The evening ended with The Air Force Band of the Pacific entertaining everyone with songs highlighting the almost six decades as a separate service. Beginning with the Andrew Sisters in the 1940's to Elvis Presley in the 60's to Bon Jovi and Lee Greenwood in the 80's.
